Pickles 1st Week

Pickles had a great first week at her new home. She has adjusted to the crate very well. Just in time since we suffering the summer triple digits. She is eating well now and already gained 4 pounds in one week. She is up to 33 pounds and only 17 weeks. Wow!

Bling!

Dylan decided she was ready for earrings. We made a trip to Sweet-n-Sassy, but we really didn't think she would go through with it - she did. And without any tears. She has been so mature about the cleaning and turning and loves her new bling.

Hunter Breaks 5'

We are almost certain Hunter grew an inch+ overnight. He has broken the 5 foot mark and shot up an 1 1/2" since June. Not long and he will tower over Mom and Dad. He couldn't be more excited.

Pickles Joins the Family

Pickles

Hunter and Pickles take to the pool.

"Pickles" came to us from Uncle Michael's family. She is a 4 month old white lab puppy and so far she has been precious. She had a very busy day and is exhausted. She has been falling asleep no matter where she is - in the car, outside, in her crate, on her food bowl in Petsmart.

Hunter and Dylan are in love already. Dylan tends to her every whimper and even decided that she needed to sleep with her tonight since it was her first night here.

Party Girl!

Dylan had THREE birthday parties on Saturday. All of her really close friends, so we couldn't miss even one. We went party to party from 10am-7pm.

The first one was at Sweet-n-Sassy and started with a Limo ride to Sweet-n-Sassy. Yes, the Limo is a PINK!

Once the girls arrived at Sweet-n-Sassy, they walked the red carpet and were all treated to dress-up, hair, make-up, nails and runway show. And of course all the other birthday goodies.

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

Yummy!

July 4th North Carolina Style

American Airlines decided to cancel our flight on July 4th, so we stayed at Jerry and Heather's house that night. Not our typical July 4th celebration, but at least we found some smoke bombs and a JAWS marathon on TV. (Good thing that was after our visit to the beach. They are so dated the kids thought they were hilarious.)

Just as the local fireworks were to start, Durham had some nice thunderstorms. Dennis Quaid was in town to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Bull Durham movie. But we missed it. Oh well....

More time at the beach. Can't get enough.

After the first couple of days, it stopped raining and cleared up. One day was even cool and really pleasant while we hung out at the beach.

Rise and Shine Monday

It's a whole lot easier to wake up on a Monday when you're headed to the beach.

Even though it had stormed the night before, the beach was nice. The waves were up a bit, it was humid, but overall a good start to vacation.
Sand castles...a beach must. Busy at work.

Off to the Beach - Myrtle Beach

After flying out to Durham for the wedding, we decided to extend our stay another week and head down to Myrtle Beach, SC - just 4 hours from Durham. We arrived Sunday afternoon and it was pouring down rain. I hate to say it, but it was somewhat of a relief. We all needed some downtime after the wedding.

We checked into the Grand Dunes Marriott Resort & Spa, unpacked our bags and went down to grab an early dinner on the patio. And of course we had to take a walk on the beach even though it just rained. We thought we might find some great shells. We did find some that were truly spectacular to Dylan. She wanted to keep them all . Luckily we were able to take a short walk before it started to rain again. It was so windy, the sand hurt as it hit us. Back inside to tour the resort and then to the room for an early nights sleep.

Wiped out!

Certainly weddings are fun. There is just a lot of stuff that goes on before that can make anyone tired. Hunter and Dylan kept up with the rest of us. Going from airport to hotel, nail salon, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, hair salon and even hangin' in there for pre-wedding photos in the heat. After the full day of here and there, wedding and reception - did I mention it was HOT! - they had enough. Dylan even fell asleep with her hand stuffed in a bag of Cheetos.

Wedding Rehearsal

It was HOT! Luckily we were able to complete the rehearsal just before an afternoon thunderstorm. Carla (Heather's good friend and the minister of the ceremony), Jerry, Trey (Best Man and long time friend) and Micheal (Groomsman)

Jennifer (Wedding coordinator and friend of Jerry and Heather), Heather, Shannon (Bridesmaid) and Rachel (Maid of Honor).

And finally... Dylan (Flower Girl) and Hunter (Ring Bearer).

Pre-wedding Primping

We made the trip to Durham, NC for Uncle Jerry and Heather's wedding June 28. But of course there are lots of things to do to get ready for the wedding, especially when you are a Flower Girl. Friday before the rehearsal, all the girls headed to Luxury Nails for manicures and pedicures. This was the first time Dylan had the full nail experience. And of course, she loved every minute of it.

And so did the bride

Lots of polished little piggies ready for the Big Day.

Dining in Durham NC

I know it's crazy, but we have never been to a Waffle House. We've heard all about it, but never made a point to go. While in Durham, NC and a Waffle House just down the street from our hotel, we decided to make a breakfast field trip. Hunter and Michael made the most out of it. The food tasted fine, but the atmosphere (in Durham you can still smoke in a restaurant, even at breakfast time) was disgusting. The dishes were all broken around the edges, the napkins were probably picked up at a dollar store by the toothless waitress on her way to work at 4am. I can't say we'll be back anytime soon.
