I know it's crazy, but we have never been to a Waffle House. We've heard all about it, but never made a point to go. While in Durham, NC and a Waffle House just down the street from our hotel, we decided to make a breakfast field trip. Hunter and Michael made the most out of it. The food tasted fine, but the atmosphere (in Durham you can still smoke in a restaurant, even at breakfast time) was disgusting. The dishes were all broken around the edges, the napkins were probably picked up at a dollar store by the toothless waitress on her way to work at 4am. I can't say we'll be back anytime soon.
